Artificial intelligence is quietly disrupting the fragrance development process

The last significant development in the world of perfumery dates back to the 19th century, when synthetic molecules were invented. Today a big step forward has been made thanks to the introduction of Artificial Intelligence in the production process of perfumes.
Reviewing several cases of companies that have created machines equipped with Artificial Intelligence capable of helping perfumers in the creation of new fragrances, the article highlights the main strengths and advantages of these new technologies: modernize how perfumers work by quickly suggesting alternative ingredients and formulas thus allowing them to explore new fragrance possibilities; ensure the use of new, more sustainable and safer molecules within the fragrances; make consequently the development process more efficient and push the bound of creativity.
